Replacement of waste dates with urea and cottonseed meal instead of barley in growing Talli kids diets in Hormozgan province

In the Honnozgan Province is producing much quantity of dates annually with to mention that a certain Proportion of this crop will be unsuitable for human consumption and so will be waste dates. However, this low quality dates are finding an ever- increasing use in the feed of goats by traditional owners of these animal .Thus, in order to the present investigation was to study the nutritive value improved of waste dates with sources of protein supplemental and their effects as an energy substitute for barley on growth of talli kids. Five diets include, diet 1: without waste dates (control), diet 2: 15% waste dates with urea, diet 3: 30% waste dates with urea cotton seed meal, diet 4 : 15% waste dates with cotton seed meal ,diet 5: 30 % waste dates with cotton seed meal (DM basis) diets were isocaloric and isonitrogenous. Treatments in a randomized completely design numbers thirty talli male kids average in 13 kg body weight and 5-6 months of age were selected use in a growth trial for period of 90 days to measure average daily live weight, feed intake and feed conversion. Average final weight and daily weight gains were 21.55,21.38,19.57,20.91 ,20.80 kg and 88.56,88.40,87.24,90.55, 89.75 in groups 1, 2, 3,4 and 5, respectively. So feed intake and feed conversion were 786.7, 780.8, 763.3, 803.3, 770 g and 8.89, 8.83, 8.77, 8.88,8.59 in groups 1,2,3,4 and 5, respectively. The low price of waste dates compared with barley suggested that substitution of waste dates with urea for barley would be commercially advantageous.
