Effect of progesterone releasing intravaginal device on ovarian cyclicity and fertility in anestrous Kundhi buffalo

The objective of the present study was to compare various hormonal treatment such as CIDR, GnRH, PGF2 alpha in post-partum anestrous are effective in stimulating onset of estrous cycles and fertility. Postpartum anestrous buffaloes (n= 32) were equally divided into 4 groups i.e. A, B, C and D (n = 8). A separate treatment protocol was followed for each group. Group A, buffaloes received CIDR device, with an injection of 2ml of GnRH, at the beginning of experiments (day 0) and at the time of CIDR removal on day 7 PGF2 alpha. Group B, C and D buffaloes received estrogen 5 ml, PGF2 alpha 2m1 and Normal saline 2ml on the day of start of synchronization (d 0) respectively. Highest percentage (75 percent) of the animals showing estrous signs in group A followed by B, C and D respectively.
