Demographic and socio-economic condition of rural women (a case study of Jaffarabad district of Balochistan)

The present study was aimed at assessing the Demographic and Socio-economic condition of rural women. Examining the perceptions of respondents about their socio economics conditions and to find out the relationship between socio-economic characteristics. In the sample area (41%) of the respondents were housewives. As regards to caste, 40% of the respondents belonged to Jamali, while the second high (30%) was Khosa. 60% of the respondents was uneducated. The occupational status of 83% was agriculturists. The nuclear family system was found to the 37% as compared to joint family system (63%). It was found that 24% of the respondents were owners, while 21%, 37% and 18% of the respondents were owner cure tenant, tenant absentee landlord respectively. 22% were small (1-3) family size while 65% and 13% of the respondents were the medium (4-6) and high (7+) family size. 66% of the respondents were actively involved in agricultural activities.
