Study on problem/constraints faced by the sugarcane growers in district Sanghar

The major research findings regarding demographic characteristics in connection with knowledge of respondents about production constraints in sugarcane cultivation and source of information regarding production constraints faced by growers were described. It was found majority of the growers (70.80%) belonged to the age group of more then 41 years. While 32.30% were graduate, 30.80% had 11.20 years experience in sugarcane cultivation and 83.10% respondent at their own land. 84.60% had hired farm labour. While 44.60% respondent had 31.60 acres, 44.60% respondent cultivated 21.40 acres sugarcane crop, 61.54% respondents depended upon canal water and 83.85% growers got 800-1400 mds yield per acre. Majority of the respondent (100%) adopted recommended sowing method, (95.38%) adopted recommended timing of sowing, (100%) adopted recommended interculturing practices, (100%) adopted recommended pest control measures.
