Effect of different irrigation management strategies on growth and yield of soyabean (Glycine max L.)
2006
Asif, M.
The experiment to find out the effect of irrigation, at different growth stages, on growth and yield of soybean was carried out. The trial was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications having a net plot size measuring 1.8 m x 5 m. Soybean variety 95-1 was sown in August, 2005 with a single row hand drill using a seed rate of 30 kg per ha in 30 cm apart row. Plant to plant distance of 5 cm was maintained by thinning extra plants twice at early growth stages. The fertilizer was applied at the rate of 50 and 75 kg NP per ha in the form of urea and diammonium phosphate, respectively. The highest seed yield of 1722.30 kg per ha was obtained plots where three irrigations were applied at vegetative, flowering and pod formation stage. This increased in seed yield was as a result of more number of seeds per plant, number of seed per pod and 1000 seed weight. Irrigation stress at vegetative or reproductive stages resulted in significant decrease in seed yiel
