Response of spring maize (Zea mays L.) to nitrogen applied through combinations of poultry manure and urea
2007
Munir, M.A.
The present investigations were carried out to study the combined effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on agro ecological traits of spring maize (Zea mays L.). The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD). The net plot size used was 3m x 6m and the treatments were control, and the combinations were, 100% N as poultry manure + 0% N as urea, 75% N as poultry manure + 25% N as urea, 50% N as poultry manure + 50% N as urea, 25% N as poultry manure + 75% urea and 100% N as urea. The crop was sown manually at the rate of 30kg per ha on 14th February 2005. The maize hybrid used was 32-w-86. The crop was sown by keeping row to row distance 75cm and plant to plant distance 15cm. The distance was maintained by doing thinning. The source of N, P and K were urea, SSP, MOP and poultry manure. Half dose of nitrogen from urea with full dose of poultry manure was applied at the time of sowing in respective plots. The remaining dose of nitrogen was applied at
