Irrigation management in spring planted sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) sown with different planting methods
2007
Shahid, M.
The treatments comprised tow planting methods i.e. P1 (flat sowing as 60 cm spaced single row) and P2 (ridge sowing as 60 cm spaced single row) and three irrigation levels i.e. I0 (irrigation at all critical stages), I1 (irrigation at early vegetative stage,, at bud visible stage and at achene development stage) and I2 (early at early vegetative stage, at bud visible stage and at anthesis. The experiment consisted of three replications and was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with split plot arrangement with planting methods in main plots and irrigation levels in sub plots. The net plot size was 3.6 m x 5.0 m. The crop was sown on February 17, 2006 by Choka method and was harvested on June 8, 2006. The physiological parameters like leaf area index were significantly affected by different planting methods and irrigation levels. The yield and yield contributing factors i.e. number of achenes per head, 1000-achene weight was significantly affected by different plant
