The aim of this study was to determine the effect of nitrogen fertilization desisting in winter wheat depending on water conditions. The experiment was carried out at Zlotniki Experimental Station that belongs to University of Life Sciences in Poznan on a sandy loam soil classified as Albic Luvisols in 2000-2007. Treatments included water variant (irrigated, non irrigated) and two levels of nitrogen fertilization (0 and 100 kg N_ha-1). It turn out that all the years of research had higher average of temperature than many-year average, especially during the period May-July. Terms of rainfall were recorded 4 years of higher and 4 years of lower than many-year average. Desisting of nitrogen fertilization resulted in the decrease of grain yield of winter wheat, variety Roma, grown under natural conditions to 1.5 t_ha-1 (41 percent), and sprinkling irrigation to 2.03 t_ha-1 (52 percent). Sprinkling irrigation, under not nitrogen fertilization increase average grain yield of 0.23 t_ha-1 (6.3 percent), and under nitrogen fertilization of 0.76 t_ha-1 (14.7 percent)
