All clay minerals have the ability to replace exchangable cations with other cations. This property is of fundamental importance in the most fields in which the clay minerals are used. Active Clay has the ability to provide retention and release of exchangable cations (Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+) of the clay with 0.5M ZnSO4 solution. The treatment lasted 120 minutes. Suspension was centrifunged and exchangable zinc was determined. It has been carried out a vegetation test in vessels aimed at the establishing of zinc microelement efficiency in biomass yield, being used in the form of Zn-clay. Comparing to the test variant, used Zn-clay gave higher yield of biomass for approx. 61%. This can be explained by relatively low zinc contents (accessible) in test variant and prolonged action of zinc from Zn-clay, being confirmed by data on content of accessible zinc in the soil after harvest.
