In the paper the research results are presented of analysing drying quality and bending properties of 38 mm thick beech timber after conventional drying according to the schedule of commonly used in Serbian industry. Drying quality was determined based on final moisture content and case-hardening on the basis of EDG Recommendation and EN standard. Results showed that dried timber belong to Q drying quality, also fulfilling EN standard for assessment of drying quality. Bending strength and modulus of elasticity had expected intervals, but the relation between case-hardening across the thickness measured by gap and mechanical properties was not found. However, the research on eventual relation between bending properties and longitudinal stresses after drying is needed.
