Functional principle of super absorbent polymers is bases on the fact that each free monomer there present, absorbs water when in contact with it, keeps and exerts it at the moment of its not being available to the surrounding environment. Thus, a plant is constantly provided with moisture, regardless the precipitation and periodicity of watering, which favorably reflects to survival, growth, and development of plants besides having concrete commercial effects. In order to analyze their impact on the survival and development of white and black pine seedlings, a series of experiments was established in the first year after forestation in the spring of 2008, encompassing degraded terrains which have suffered forest fires, and/or been exposed to changed (extreme) climate conditions. Based on the results obtained, it can be established that application of powdery organic polymers, directly added into holes during planting in concentrations of 2.5 g or more, has beneficial effect on survival and growth of white and black pine seedlings, in the first year after forestation. In the years to follow, an intensifying growth in height should be expected for white pine seedlings also, based on the well-developed root system, which should contribute to success of forestation. Results obtained, taking into account extreme climate conditions, hard terrains, and prospective commercial profit, vouch for mass application of organic powdery polymers in forestation of degraded terrains.
