Virtual rotated comb type chamomile harvester was used for mechanical harvest of marigold (Calendula officinalis L.), variety Gelb Orange for row distances 40, 45, 50, 60 and 70 cm. The two groups of work ing parameters i.e. 1st – harvesting cylinder RPM 130/min, machine speed 1.1 km/h, and 2nd – RPM 150/min, machine speed 2.1 km/h were used. The influences of these parameters on harvest characteristics were tested as follows: harvested yield of different flower classes according to flower stem length (up to 2 cm and over 2 cm) and harvest losses in a form of not picked-up and downfallen flowers and machine capacity, i.e. productivity. Manual picking was the control whereby harvested yield and productivity were measured. The highest harvested yield, in cluding both classes, was obtained for the row distance 45 cm, 6,084 kg/ha and use of 1st group of working parameters. The productivity was 760 kg/h. For these parameters were also obtained the lowest losses, 8.4%. The highest losses were obtained for row distance 70 cm and for 2nd group of working parameters, 20.5%. The highest yield of manually harvested flowers was also obtained for row distance of 45 cm, 11,965 kg/h. The productivity of manual harvest was 4.2 kg/h. Further investigation should be focused upon the separation and classification of mechanically harvested marigold.
