In order to determine reference values for our laboratory was investigated by a number of blood serum of dairy cows on major biochemical parameters as follows: NEFA, BHB, glucose, total protein, cholesterol, total bilirubin, ALT and AST and Calcemia. It is known that these parameters depend on the functional status of the flow of energy metabolism, productivity and lactation. The aim of this study was that in 40 healthy cows, regardless of their productivity, nutrition and lactation period determine the reference values for these biochemical parameters of blood. The results show that the largest number of parameters in the reference values recommended in the literature. However, the finding Calcemia shows significant deviation to the left (17.5% of cows, 7 of 40, showing signs of hypocalcemia), but when it comes to ALT and AST have a large number of cows with the turnoff to the right parameters (ALT, 11/40, 27.5%, AST, 9/40, 22.5%). Turn to the right is present in the result related to bilirubin (9/40, 22.5%) which indicates the increased activity of these enzymes in serum. We conclude that the results of biochemical parameters in the range of recommended reference values, except in certain clinically healthy cows, there are potential signs of hypocalcemia and signs of increased workload of the liver in order to maintain homeostasis. These results can be explained by the fact that cows are very burdened with high milk production.
