Knowledge about the plant production, as an expression of photosynthetic activity of leaf surface, is one of great importance for plant growing, because it affects crop yield. The average results of two years survey showed significant increase of leaf surface area in the variant with mechanical cultivation (26602 square cm/square m) in comparison with other ones. This pointed out the possibility of physiological effect of herbicides on potato plants, although sometimes it is reflected through decrease of assimilative surface. The biggest assimilative surface, in the phase of full flowering as well as maximal increase, was measured in Kennebec variety - 27933 square cm/square m, and minimal one in the crop of Kondor variety - 21703 square cm/square m. The highest average yield was measured in Kondor variety (25.5 t/ha), although was characterized by the smallest assimilative surface area.
