The wealth of every country is seen in its natural resources. Economic development of country cannot be imagined without natural resources as they represent the main factor of development. Since water is an irreplaceable factor and condition necessary for both the life and the work of people, it is our duty to use it rationally, to protect it from pollution and to ensure that the future generations will also use high quality water. This paper emphasizes the management of artificial lakes and possible measures that could be undertaken to protect water supply reservoirs from excessive siltation.
