Over 2003-2006 we studied major biological and chemical characters of red raspberries Tulameen, Latham, Meeker and selection K 81-6 grown in region of Cacak (Serbia), and we compared them with standard raspberry cultivar Willamette. Yield per unit area, overall content of dry matter, soluble solids, sugars, acids, pH value, total pectines and anthocyanins content were studied. The obtained results suggest that Willamette and Meeker perform best both in respect of yield and fruit quality. Given the duration of ripening period and favorable fruit characters Tulameen can be recommended for conventional or out-of-season growing. The selection K 81-6, which crops most regularly and is the most suitable for growing under less favorable agro-environmental conditions, is recommended for direct processing of freezing immediately after harvest.
