Using questionnaire, 30 farmers were interviewed from four villages. The farmers sample represents 40% of the total number of farmers in the selected area. Results showed that, there was an improvement in the educational background of the farmers: 40 % primary schooled, 37 % secondary schooled, and 3% university graduates farmers. About 87 % of the group used knapsack sprayers when applying pesticides. However, still 83 % of them use local units to measure the dose rates. Moreover, 87 % use the regular clothing while spraying, 70 % leave empty pesticides containers in their fields, 23 % use these containers for other purposes, and 87 % store their pesticides in their fields. Several poisoning cases (ca. 27 %) among the studied farmers were alleged. They were not subjected to any proper medication, and were treated with locally known primitive treatments.
