On the base of the certificates about the registered flocks of the Slovak Goose and the Suchovska Goose there were analyzed: the number of flocks, the number of males, the number of females, and the total number of birds. The values of these parameters were used on calculation of an effective population size by Wright (1931), and the populations of observed breeds were categorised by Oravcova et al. (2006). The average effective population size of the Slovak Goose in the period of 2001-2010 was 59 pc, in the interval from 28 pc (the year 2001) to 77 pc (the year 2008). This year the Slovak Goose was categorized as an endangered breed of goose. In case of the breed Suchovska Goose, there was observed an average effective population size 95 pc in the period 2001 to 2010. The values of this parameter range from 58 pc (the year 2001) to 125 pc (the year 2006). We categorized the Suchovska Goose as an endangered breed under the conditions of the Slovak Republic.
