In some cases (in forestry mapping and research), there is no need to use "classical" geodetic instruments (theodolite, total station etc.) with their advantages (very accurate) and disadvantages (expensive, difficult handling). This is very important for one-owner area measurements, where the desired accuracy is not so high. System "Field-Map" appears to be a suitable solution for this kind of measurements. The goal of our study was accuracy determination, focused on hardware components. Determined by measurement and computation method, the range of mean position error values is relatively wide (0.152 m - 2.642 m) with most values up to 1 m. With the mean position error up to 1 m, the hardware components of Field-Map appear to be suitable for lower-accuracy measurements. The great advantage of this system is simple, user-friendly use, easy use of data for further processing and big variety of forestry measurements, witch can be done with this set. In forestry mapping it can be used for "under-canopy" mapping and navigation or in some urgent cases, where satisfactory and immediate results cannot be achieved trough photogrammetry.
