Efficacy of 20 plant crude extracts on growth inhibition of Erwinia carotovora was tested in the laboratory. Twenty herbal plants were extracted in 95 percent ethyl alcohol and tested its by Paper disc agar diffusion method. It was found that 8 plant crude extracts could inhibit the growth of bacteria by showing visible inhibition zone. Top three plant crude extracts such as Beleric Myrobalan, Pomegranate and Nut gall at 1,000 ppm showed the widest inhibition zone of 0.41, 0.33 and 0.25 cm respectively. Those three extracts at the concentrations of 10,000 and 20,000 ppm were separate mixed in soil infested with Erwinia carotovora and then the treated soils were sampling every 5 days for 7 times. Crude extract of Beleric Myrobalan at 20,000 ppm was the most effective in reducing bacterial population when compared with control. The bacterial population when decreased from 3.20*10**(7) cfu/ml at the initial stage to 2.50*10**(5) cfu/ml at day 30 after treatment. Whereas was 9.87*10**(5) cfu/ml However, the bacterial population still high enough to cause soft rot of Mustard Green.
