An efficient in vitro method for shoot propagation of P. elongata was developed. Stem tip and nodal explants from plants grown under controlled non-sterile conditions were used as initial plant material. The results obtained indicated that the species possesses great potential for formation of new vegetative buds but the answer strongly related to the composition of the medium and culture conditions. High frequency of multiple shoots /95%/ and maximum number of shoots from one nodal explant /8.2/ was obtained on MS medium /Murashige and Skoog, 1962/, containing cytokinin 6-benzylaminopurine /2 mg/l BAP/ in combination with low concentration of auxin ѓї-naphtalene acetic acid /0.05 mg/l NAA/ for four weeks. The method allows obtaining a large number of cloned plants of elite, selected genotypes of P. „ulongat„p.
