Metabolism disorder, caused by disbalancement of trace elements in organism of animal, is accepted to be called a microelementosis and belongs to endemic diseases, characterizing with deficiency of essential substances: iron, zinc, iodide, copper and selenium. Selenium is admitted to be the most important trace element, regulating metabolism, synthetizing hormones and controlling cell immunity level. The Republic of Belarus is considered to be a region with deficit of selenium in soil and plants that leads to shortage of this substance in human and animal organisms. Deficit of selenium is compensated with special selenium-containing preparations. Selenopyran is nanodimensional, low toxic, organic form of selenium, which obtains wide recognition in medical and veterinary practice. The influence of selenopyran on the dynamics of metabolic processes in calves' organisms is researched. Clinical state and zootechnic characteristics of animals is analyzed. Biochemical indexes of calves' blood after selenopyran application are investigated; antioxidant activity of blood after selenopyran use is measured. Content of selenium in calves' blood after application of different selenium preparations is analyzed. Influence of selenium on main animal productivity indexes (live weight, daily weight dynamics etc.) is displayed. Main advantages of selenopyran if compared to other selenium preparations are proved.
