Isolation and characterization of microsatelite markers in pomegranates (Punica granatum L)
2009
Pir Seyyedi, Mostafa | Mardi, Mohsen
Twenty three novel microsatellite loci were identified in pomegranate (Punica granatum L). The polymorphism of the microsatellites was evaluated using a panel of 40 pomegranate genotypes. Sixteen microsatellites were polymorphic. The number of alleles ranged from 1 to 7 The observed and expected heterozygosity ranged from 0/00 to 1/00 and 0/02 to 0/65 respectively. Polymorphic information content varied from 0/02 to 0/58 The present study described 23 novel microsatellite markers and demonstrated their potential as efficient genetic markers in studies related to pomegranate (Punica granatum L) populations structure especially in the 76 different genotypes that are available in the Iranian Pomegranate Collection.
