Termites cause crop loss in agriculture, damging forest and destroying stored foods and other essential material. Chemical control is the most conventional and effective method for termite control. In the present project, some of the neurotic insecticides (fast effect) including fipronil (Agenda EC25) (1%), chloropyrifos ethyl (Dorsban EC408)(1%), chloropyrifos ethyl (Dorsban EC408)(5%), permethrin (Ambush EC100) (0.5%), fenvalerate (Sumicidin EC200) (0.5%), cypermthrin (cypermthrin EC100) (0.5%) and water as control were tested against termites infesting date palms. The results showed that fipronil and chloropyrifos were the most persistent and effective insecticides on the termite. These insecticides could prevent to entry termites to the treated plots for about12 months. Also the pyrethroid insecticides such as cypermethrin, fenvalerate and permethrin were effective for 1-3 months. The permethrin was more persistent and effective in compression with other pyrethroid insecticides. Thus fipronil and chloropyrifos are preventive and conservative termiticides for a short term and can not annihilate termite colonies for a long term.
