Taxus baccata L. (English yew) is one of the most important medicinal tree species globally. It is well-known for its Taxol content. In this study, genetic diversity of 154 English yew genotypes, collected from different locations of Iran, were assessed using 18 SSR markers and some morphological traits. The results indicated that SSR markers TB8, TB14 and TB15 with maximum number of alleles and PIC were suitable for study genetic diversity in English yew. The cluster analyses of studied genotypes using molecular and morphologica data showd congruent patterns of genetic diversity with their geographical origins. Based on these findings, the genetic conservation and management of English yew is important in Iran especially in Afratakhteh and Pouneh Aram Forests in Golestan province. This study should provide useful tools to study the population structure and genetic diversity of T. baccata L and promote its management and conservation.
