Wheat loose smut which is caused by Ustilago tritici can normally be controlled by seed disinfection. Since the disease contamination is embryo-borne, for testing the fungicides this is necessary to prepare infected seeds in the first year. In this research after cultivating the wheat seeds from susceptible cultivar Boulani we went to tropical areas of Kermanshah province and found infected field and gathered enough infected spikes. After appearance of stamens of the spikes in the experimental farm a thick suspension of U.tritici spores were sprayed upon them 3 times. These spikes were harvested and threshed and the seeds were maintained for the following year. In the second year of the experiment after preparation the field the treatments included the seeds treated with the fungicides Lospel, Real, Lamardor, Dividend, Carboxin-thiram and water treated control were cultivated in a completely randomized block design. After ripening the spikes, there was no sign of infection in the plots. The results for the number of spikes and weight of the seeds indicated that there is no significant difference among the treatments comparing to Carboxin thiram as control fungicide and water treated seeds. On this basis liquid fungicides have no negative effect on seed germination or vegetation of wheat plants and can be used for seed disinfection.
