Present survey was conducted during growth season of sugar beet in Kohgiloyeh -va - Boyerahmad province (cold regions) to find and identify sugar beet fungal diseases and their importance. Suspected and cleared fungal infected roots as well as foliages were selected and sampled from non-fungicide and fungicide treated field separately. By the use of the international different fungal identification keys and visual methods, and also culturing of none obligate fungi on different specific media, different fungal diseases were detected. Importance of diseases also was determined based on their abundance and distribution at different times of plants growth stages. The result showed that Sugar beet powdery mildew (Erysiphe polygony) was more important disease on sugar beet leaves. However downy mildew (Peronospora farinose) and Cercospora leaf spot (Cercospora beticola) were observed and recorded as second and third important leaf diseases. At the seedling stage of sugar beet, damping off was impotant disease which was caused by Pythium aphanidermatum and Rhizoctoni solani. At the mature stage of sugar beet roots, root rot caused by Pythium aphanidermatum was seen and recorded. This disease was more important and distributed specially in highly irrigated fields.
