center, to evaluate the leaf spot tolerance of domestic and imported varieties of sugar beet (two experiments with 20 cultivars). Qualitative and quantitative characters of varieties were also evaluated. The experimental design was randomized complete block design with four replicates. Varieties were scored based on KWS scale (1-9), which number 1 refers resistant varieties and number 9 sensitive varieties which have lost their leaves completely. Based on the results of trial number 232687, variety F-20692 with score of 1.91 was the most resistant variety and susceptible check (line 191) with score of 6.65 was the most sensitive variety. Experimental mean score of disease was 3.60. There was a significant difference between varieties for resistance to disease, root yield, white sugar yield, percent of purity and root impurities. The highest and the lowest amount of white sugar yield were produced by Cultivar F-20713 (15.65 t/ha) and F-20693 (8.7 t/ha) respectively. The results of trial number 232787 also showed that variety F-20711 with score of 2.09 was the most resistant variety and susceptible check (line 191) and variety F-20542 with score of 5.85 and 5.65 were the most susceptible varieties. Experimental mean score of disease was 3.68. There was a significant difference between varieties for resistance to disease, root yield, white sugar yield, percent of purity and root impurities. The highest and the lowest amount of white sugar yield were produced by Cultivars F-20550 (13.98 t/ha) and (261*231)* 709-p.27 (8.41 t/ha) respectively.
