More labor and cost are required for manual cultivation of hybrid rice. Development of mechanization especially in planting and harvesting operations is one of the main solutions to reduce cost to increase labor productivity. In this research, field performance of a four rows walking rice transplanting machine was evaluated with three seed rate of 60, 80 and 100 g in each seedling box and was compared to hand transplanting. In harvesting stage, effects of three methods namely; harvesting by sickle and threshing ( ), harvesting by mechanical reaper and threshing ( ) and combine harvester ( ) on rice losses were investigated. Experiment was statistically performed randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. The results revealed that in transplanting operations, the seed rate per box significantly affected number of seedlings per hill and percent of missed hills, so that the highest number of seedlings per hill with the average of 2.8 was in 100 g per box and the lowest was 1.7 in 60 g/per box. The highest missing hills (13.32%) were obtained in 60 g/box and the lowest (7.65%) was in 100 g/box. There was not significant difference between treatments for floating hills and depth of planting. Planting cost using rice transplanting machine was reduced about 35% compared to hand transplanting. The total harvesting and threshing losses including shattering losses, broken, husked and cracked grains in treatments , and were 8.0, 7.38 and 5.0%, respectively. Cost of harvesting using combine harvester was reduced 56.7 and 31.4% compared to treatments of and , respectively.
