Effect of time and concentration of foliar supplements of nitrogen fertilizer as complementary of soil nutrition yield and yield component of rapeseed in Guilan area

In order to investigate the effect of concentration and time of foliar supplements of nitrogen fertilizer as complementary of soil nutrition on yield and yield component of rapeseed (Hyola401), an experiment was conducted in complete randomizwd block design with 16 treatments and 3 replications in a paddy fields of Rice Research Institute of Iran (Rasht) during 2008-2010 for two years. Nitrogen concentration (from urea source) in two levels (5 and 10 0/00) and application time in 7 levels: 1: seedling stage at 6-8 leaves, 2: beginning of stem elongation, 3: prior to flowering, 4: seedling stage at 6-8 leaves + stem elongation, 5: seedling stage at 6-8 leaves + prior to flowering, 6: stem elongation + prior to flowering, 7: seedling stage at 6-8 leaves + stem elongation + prior to flowering, plus two control treatments including a: without nitrogen fertilizer and b: conventional fertilization (180 kg.ha-1) at seed sowing, stem elongation and prior to flowering in equal rates were evaluated. Results of the combined analysis of variance showed a significant difference between the experimental treatments in all traits. The first year with an average grain yield of 3343.4 Kg.h-1 was superior compared to the second year with average of 2636.8 Kg.h-1. Foliar application of nitrogen (10 0/00) in treatment number 7 produced the maximum grain yield (3686.2 Kg.ha-1), oil yield (1489.3 Kg.ha-1), number of seeds per siliques (176.9), biological yield (10684.6 Kg.ha-1) and days to maturity (202.7). There was not significant difference between the treatments number 6 and 7. According to the results of the present experiment, it seems that the spray application of supplementary nitrogen fertilizer at beginning of stem elongation and prior to flowering stages may cause grain and oil yields enhancement and decrease fertilizer consumption.
