: An investigation on aflatoxin in milk and feed in dairy farm of Kermanshah Provience

The objective of This survey was to determine the aflatoxin contaminatikon of milk and animal feeds in dairy cattle farms of Kermanshah province. A total number of 54 samples each for milk, corn silage, alfalfa, and concentrate were collected randomly from 9 dairy farms, located in different parts of Kermanshah Provience and analyzed for aflatoxin using an HPLC method. The results indicated that 29.6% of milk samples were contaminated with Aflatoxin M1. The average of aflatoxin M1 contamination was found to be 0.0488 ng/ml in milk samples. The mean aflatoxin contamination of corn silage samples was also found to be 1.422 ng/g. No contamination of aflatoxine was observed in alfalfa samples. The mean aflatoxin contamination of concentrate samples was determined as 2.782 ng/g. As a whole the average contamination of animal feeds was less than permitted standard level of Iran.
