Risk management is of crucial important in investment and financial supply in developing countries. The basis of risk management in agricultural sector is insurance. Various factors, including environmental conditions and management practices, could cause different levels of quality and quantity yield reductions in corn. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a standard instruction and procedure to separate different factors affecting yield from each others for crop yield insurance. The most significant loss payments in corn were due to end-season low temperature, hail and storm damages. In this report, it has been attempted to study all management and environmental damages occurred throughout corn growing season such as abiotic stresses (drought, early and late season low temperatures, heat and hail damages), biotic stresses (pests and diseases) and unfavorable management practices (planting date, planting density and lodging damages). All these factors result in reduction of photosynthesizing area and planting density. It has been tried to present a comprehensive information about corn growth stages, different types of damages and their identification, appropriate procedures to estimating losses along with proper images and tables leading to simple diagnosis and yield estimation for insurance experts.
