Identification species of ston fruit weevils (curculionidea) , determining of dominant specie , natural enemes and survy on biology.

There are about 2000 ha stone fruit plantations in Kurdistan province, Iran. Fruit weevil (curculionidea) is one of the most important pests of stone fruit crops . The biology of genus Rhynchites sp was studied in Marivan and Kamyaran of Kurdistan in 2006-2008. Sampling was take every ten days on the 10 trees of apricot, 10 trees of cheery, 10 trees of plum collected random and number of adults and larvae were counted. The results of this study showed that , adult weevil Rhynchites auratus (curculionidea) has one generation per 2 years and adults start to emerge from overwintering site at the mid-March. After emerging , feed on leaves and young shoots, young branches, buds and fruits prevent product in the fruits. After several days from emerging adults start to mate and throughout adult life span they mate occasionally .Females make a hole of 3-6 mm depth on the immature fruits of the host trees such as apricot, cheery, plum by their rostrum and lay one egg in each hole. The eggs are covered with fruit fibers obtained from chewed tissuse for protection. After 5-10 days the eggs hatch and the young larvae feed inside stone fruit.After feeding the mature larvae remain inside the soil for 18 months. Each generation needs two years to be completed . There fore the pest overwinters as last instant larve and adults insid the soil.
