1993
Snobar B.
The report concerns the fourth season in the third phase of the Food Legume Project. The objective of the third phase was to transfer the technology, developed during phases one and two of the project, to the farmers through two types of demonstrations, namely "Full Package" and "Minimum Inputs". The main objective of this season, which was an extension of the third phase, was to include in the "Full Package" demonstrations for the pre-emergence herbicides for broad and narrow leaf weeds. Other activities of this phase were: seed multiplication of improved lentil and chickpea cv., Sitona control, Bruchus control and socioeconomic study. The "Full Package" technology included inputs such as chisel plow for land preparation and sweep for seedbed preparation, grain drill for seeding and fertilizer application, improved cv., recommended rate and type of fertilizer in addition to chemical weed control for early sowing. The "Minimum Inputs" technology included improved cultivars and fertilizer application. Furthermore, the socioeconomic study on adoption rate continued during the season. Due to the unusual weather conditions prevailing during 1991/92 season and due to the late arrival of imported herbicides, weed control experiment and number of "Full Package" demonstrations were not conducted. In addition to report in 1991/92 activities of the project, a brief description of the activities and findings of the previous seasons included in phase III for the period 1988-1992 are also reported.
