The areas of rainfed lowland rice dominates the other types. More than 24 thousands ha or about 39 percent of the lowland rice areal is available and suitable for development of agriculture. Three dominant farmers cropping pattern were noted. Rainfed lowland rice followed by peanut covered areal about 64 percent. Soybean after lowland rice about 16 percent, and 20 percent of the areal is planted with intercropping corn and peanut followed by lowland rice. The technology of pre and postharvest in general have been understood, however, they have to be improved, especially for high yielding varieties, irrigation, insects and diseases, and marketing. The average yield of rice, soybean, and peanut were between (3-6 t), (0.6-0.9 t) and (0.9-1.2) ton/ha respectively. The other farm income was from coconut sugar, hen, goats and cattle. The field extension could transfer the new technology to 4-6 groups of farmers only out of 16 groups. His activities were carried out at farmers house. Farming systems research program to develop rainfed lowland areas in large enough scale is necessary. The Agency of Agriculture, Public Work, Bank, and the local government have to be responsible and do it hand in hand.
