Doe reproduction and preweaning litter performance were investigated in 4 breed groups of New Zealand White (NZW) and Thai native (N) purebreds and NZWxN and NxNZW crossbreds, each group consisting of ten does. The first parity little size of NZW does was smaller than that of NZWxN and of N does (P<.05). Purebred does were compared in their first litter performance. The result showed that NZW does had .80 days longer gestation period (P<.05) 2.20 kits fewer in the litter (P<.05) and 81 gm lower litter weight at birth (P<.05) than N does. When the does approached one year of age, NZW does performed more poorly than the other 3 breed groups. They had more frequent matings (P<.05) but produced an equal number of litters and had a lower conception rate (P<.05). A comparison between the 2 purebreds revealed superiority of N does to NZW does in reproductive performance with regard to the frequency of mating and the conception rate (P<.05). No significant differences in litter performance were found between the 2 crossbreds. Crossbred-purebred contrast showed that crossbred does required lower frequency of mating but had a higher conception rate than purebreds (P<.05). Significant heterosis was found to be -29.69 and 33.02 % in frequency of mating and conception rate, respectively.
