Chili plants grown in horizontal bags performed better growth in term of plant height while coconut coir, rice hull, coconut coir + sand, ricehull + coconut coir were more favorable for fresh yield production (510.98, 478.69, 471.81 and 431.04 g/plant). In the second experiment, chili plants were grown in three types of soilless substrates which were premixed with two rates of chemical fertilizers and supplementing with two intervals of micronutrient applications. The highest yield was obtained from plants grown in substrate S1 (474.89 g/plant). Fruit size, fruit-number and shoot dry weight remarkably increased with increasing fertilizer application rates. The comparative studies on the effects of five substrates in the beds on chinese radish and the highest tuber length and weight of chinese radish were obtained from plants grown in coconut coir while lowest yields were from those contained rice hull substrates. Coconut coir and coconut coir + sand treatments were considered suitable for vegetative growth of kale (620.00 and 595.00 g/12 plants) while rice hull was unsuitable. The last investigation on the effects of premixing the substrate with the chemical fertilizer and applying micronutrient solution on kale growth. The result indicated on the average, such treatment gave poorer vegetative growth than complete nutrient solution application. The height of kale obtained from premixing the substrate with 288 g fertilizer per bed and supplementing with micronutrient solution at 5 days interval was comparable with those obtained the complete nutrient solution daily.
