Field experiments were carried out in the years 1986-89 on light soil. The tested characteristics were various water conditions and 4 doses of nitrogen fertilizers. It was established that the yield of winter crops increased under the influence of sprinkling by 13.2 percent on the average and barley - by 11.5 percent, whereas under favourable conditions, by 30.5 and 25.0 percent, respectively the increase of weight of one thousand grains. Under natural precipitation conditions, winter crops should be fertilized with 75 kg N/ha, sprinkled wheat with 125 kg N/ha, and triticale with 150 kg N/ha. Barley, irrespective of water conditions, should be fertilized with the lowest possible dose, i.e. 30 (brewery) and 60 kg N/ha (fodder). As a result of sprinkling, a decrease in the content of nitrogen, phosphorus and magnesium in grain is observed. On the other hand, intensive nitrogen fertilization results in accumulation of nitrogen in grain.
