Agronomic characters of four mungbean varieties grown under two different seasons were studied at Faculty of Agriculture, Chiang Mai University. Dry season experiment was conducted during January to April, 1987 whereas the wet season trial was carried on during May to July, 1987. Mungbean varieties used in the experiments were CES 55, U-Thong l, KPS 1 and KPS 2. Mungbean varieties KPS 1 and KPS 2 produced satisfactorily higher yield than those obtained from CES 55 and U-Thong 1 in both seasons. The mean grain yields obtained from KPS 1, KPS 2, CES 55 and U-Thong 1 were 233, 232, 178 and 179 kg/rai respectively. Higher yields obtained from KPS 1 and KPS 2 were mainly due to the higher number of pod produced by these two varieties in comparison to those obtained from CES 55 and U-Thong 1. Moreover, varieties KPS 1 and KPS 2 also showed better performance in terms of uniform maturity than CES 55 and U-Thong 1, since they could be harvested earlier and had higher percentage of matured pod at the first harvest than the other two varieties.
