Natural gas is the gaseous fuel that is usually plentiful in most area of the globe. Being a low density gas, it is not appropriate for a long distance transport and therefore only used in a limited area in the owner country. However, natural gas reserve does not exist in some countries. Therefore natural gas transportation in form of gas through pipe line or in form of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) transported by cryogenic tankers is necessary. Thailand has laid the natural gas trunk pipe line from Mabtaput district in Chonburi province to Saraburi province but there is no branch or service pipe line available at the present due to economic infeasibility. This thesis is the studies of the appropriate bulk transportation of the compressed natural gas for Bangkok Metropolitan area. The system was built for the purpose of transporting the compressed natural gas from the compressed natural gas mother station located on Teparuk road km 5.5 to the Kasetsart University the total distance of 37 kilometers. The system consists of 5 different designs of trucks and trailers, decanting equipments, gas appliances for the experiments and gas storage cylinders for different applications. The experimental results have shown that the most appropriate method of gas transportation for the conditions of Bangkok metropolitan area is by land transportation of compressed natural gas. The proportion of the high pressure (8.2 MPa) gas users and the low pressure (>8.2 MPa) gas users should be 2 to 1 to enable the efficient decanting arrangement.
