Global ReLeaf is an international public education and action campaign of The AMERICAN FORESTS (from 1875 to April 1992 named American Forestry Association) aimed at increasing awareness about constructive actions that people can take to mitigate the major causes of global environmental problems, including the global warming threat. It focuses primarily on the opportunities inherent in improving trees and forests. That topic is central to the American Forests mission and expertise. The U.S. Country Studies Programme is an interagency initiative created as a part of the U.S. government commitment to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC). Through this programme, the U.S. provide technical and financial assistance for developing countries and countries with economies in transition for studies and actions to address climate change concerns. American Forests, with support from the U.S. Country Studies Programme will assist transitional countries in identifying, planning, and implementing pilot forestry projects to mitigate climate change.
