A preliminary account is given about seed-borne fungi observed on 11 cypress seed samples. Seiridium cardinale was present, in a low percentage (0,5%), on seeds from healthy plants. In some cases the fungus was present as seed contamination, and fruiting bodies of S. cardinale were also observed on the seed coat of seeds and externally contaminated by the fungus. On the basis of these preliminary results, the possibility of seed treatments by systemic chemicals or by a mixture of the systemic and protective fungicide, is discussed.
