Some arable, alluvial soils, classified into heavy, humus rich soils, saturated to a great extent with basic cations, were studied within the Zulawy area. The results of studies permit to conclude that the heavy metal content in alluvial soils of Zulawy depends upon the chemical composition of material drifted to the Vistula Delta. The gley processes can be responsible for Fe, Mn, Ni and Co enrichment in only some horizons of the soil profile.
