The analysis of vegetation of aquatic weeds in Sentani lake was done mainly to identify, to determine the distribution of each weed species and to look for those of economic value; to evaluate the dominance ratio of each weed. The estimate visualized and the square destructive method were used in this research. The research was carried out from January to February 1990 in Sentani Lake, Jayapura, Irian Jaya. There were 39 aquatic weed species in Sentani Lake. The most common were : Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms; Hydrilla verticillata L.; Ceratophyllum demersum L.; Salvinia molesta D.S. Mitchell; Scirpus grossus L.; Panicum repens L. The most serious aquatic weed problems in Sentani lake were H. verticillata, C. demersum and E. crassipes covering 97.5 ha.
