An experiment with twelve levels of fertilizer dose was carried out at Rajbari Testing Station Dinajpur, Bangladesh belonging to the Jhamun Gangachara Soil series during the period from March to December 1986 to findout the optimum fertilizer dose for turmeric. The experiment was laidout in RCB design with three replications. Different levels of fertilizer dose had highly significant effect on the plant height and yield except number of leaves and stems/plant, number of corn/hill and diameter of primary rhizome. Significantly highest yield (23.74 t/ha) was produced by the fertilizer combinations having 80-45-80-0-5 kg/ha N,P(2)O(5), K(2)O, S and Zn which was followed by the treatment combinations 80-45-80-30-5 and 120-45-80-30-5 kg/ha of N, P(2)O(5), K(2)O, S and Zn respectively. The lowest yield (18.61 t/ha) was recorded in the control plot.
