Taaktijden voor de groenteteelt onder glas.

In this publication, a sequel to the third impression of the booklet 'Task times for lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and paprikas', issued in 1974 by the former Institute of Horticultural Engineering, a number of task times concerning so-called minor crops have been listed in addition to the task times concerning major crops. Moreover, experience figures regarding the main operations has been included for two crops (strawberries and gherkins). The task times of the major crops, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and paprika, have been adapted as much as possible to current views on farmmanagement and equipement used. As a result a great number of working methods have disappeared, particularly in the case of lettuce, and been replaced by data regarding more recent methods. The number of task times for tomatoes has risen sharply due to the introduction of new equipment (twin rail system), the application of different production systems (interplanting) and renewed and extensive research into the labour aspect of harvesting, an aspect dealt with very briefly so far. With respect to cucumbers there has been little change. The list of paprika task times has been greatly enlarged with data concerning the two-stem system. The new chapters containing the data on a number of minor crops are very concise, since for most of these crops only one harvesting system is examined. Finally a number of experience figures is given with respect to the main operations in strawberry and gherkin production. The booklet provides a satisfactory survey of the labour requirement of the main operations in the production of vegetable crops under glass excepting aubergines and beef tomatoes.
