The research work was conducted at Khun Chang Khian Station from October 1983 to March 1986. Red Caturra was the planting material and split plot design in RCB had been carried out by using 1 x 2m and 2 x 2m as spacing treatments. The pruning system treatments were as follows: single-stem, double-stem, two-single main stems (two plants per hole), and no pruning as control. After two years of transplanting the plants started to produce flower buds (March 1985) and full flowering appeared in April 1985. The fruits started to be mature and ripened in November 1985 and were gradually harvested until the beginning of January 1986. The yield potential showed to be not significant in both pruning and spacing trials. The spacing trial did not show any difference in growth structure except the node number of the main stems. The pruning treatments showed to be significant in growth characteristics except the length of the internodes of the main stems and of the fruiting branches. The two-single stem treatment showed to have a greater height of the main stems and produce more fruiting branches but gave the minimum stem size, size of bush, length and node number of the fruiting branch. The pruning of single stem and double stem treatments showed the same pattern of growth. No pruning as the control produced bigger size of stem, more suckers, and a larger number of smaller fruiting branches. Both the two single stem and single stem treatments showed a tendency of bigger size of fruits.
