Evaluacion de hibridos de tomate en verano. 1. Heterosis del rendimiento y sus componentes.
1983
Alvarez M.
Performance of ten tomato hybrids and their parentes was studied at the Instituto de Ciencia Agricola (INCA), which were sown on May 28 1981. Tomato yield, height, number of branches, clusters and fruits per plant as well as the number of flowers and fruits per cluster, fruiting % and average fruit weight were the characters showing heterosis compared to parental mean; it was also shown in the number of days up to flowering, average fruit weight and yield when comparison was performed with the best parents. The hybrids "INCA 3" x "Campbell 28", "INCA 3" x "Mallac 10", "Nova 2" x "INCA 11" and "Floradel" x "INCA 21" showed the highest heterotic effect for yield and fruiting %; thus they constituted a potentially important material for a further commercial exploitation of hybrids varieties, considering that there are no varieties for summer sowings which may satisfy our people's demands.
