Influencia de la modificaci.n de suelos con un surfactante cati.nico en el incremento de adsorci.n de pesticidas por suelos.

The efficiency of soils with different characteristics modified with the cationic surfactant octadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (ODTMA) in the adsorption of pesticides of different hydrophobicity with respect to that of natural soils was studied. Five soils were used and the pesticides studied were alachlor, atrazine, linuron, metalaxyl and penconazole. The adsorption desorption isotherms of all the pesticides by the natural and modified soils were obtained. The values of the Freundlich Kf constants indicated an increase in the adsorption of all the pesticides by soils saturated with the cationic surfactant with respect to the natural soils. The highest Kf value was obtained for the most hydrophobic pesticide penconazole; Kf increased 140-fold in the adsorption of this pesticide in the case of the ODTMA-soil with the greatest montmorillonite content. The amounts of pesticide adsorbed by the ODTMA-soils from an initial concentration of 25 micro g/mL represent adsorption percentages higher than 95% (penconazole), 83% (linuron), 67% (alachlor), 38% (atrazine) and 19% (metalaxyl) and are related to the heterogeneity of the clay minerals of the soils. The relationship between the amounts adsorbed by the saturated and natural soils after the desorption point to the efficiency of the ODTMA cation in increasing the adsorption by soils of the pesticides studied.

Se estudia la eficacia en la adsorci.n de pesticidas de diferente hidrofobicidad de suelos de distintas caracter.sticas modificados con el surfactante cati.nico, bromuro de octadeciltrimetilamonio (ODTMA) en relaci.n a los suelos naturales. Se utilizaron cinco suelos y los pesticidas estudiados fueron alacloro, atrazina, linuron, metalaxil y penconazol. Se obtuvieron las isotermas de adsorci.n-desorci.n de todos los pesticidas por los suelos naturales y por los suelos modificados. Los valores de las constantes de Freundlich Kf indican un aumento de adsorci.n de todos los pesticidas por los suelos saturados con el surfactante cati.nico en relaci.n a los suelos naturales. El valor de Kf m.s elevado se encuentra para el pesticida m.s hidrof.bico penconazol, Kf aument. 140 veces en la adsorci.n de este pesticida por el suelo-ODTMA con mayor contenido en montmorillonita. Las cantidades de pesticidas adsorbidos por los suelos-ODTMA a partir de una concentraci.n inicial de 25 micro g/mL representan porcentajes de adsorci.n superiores al 95% (penconazol), 83% (linuron), 67% (alacloro), 38% (atrazina) y 19% (metalaxil) y est.n relacionadas con la heterogeneidad de los minerales de la arcilla de los suelos. La relaci.n entre las cantidades adsorbidas por los suelos saturados y naturales despu.s de la desorci.n manifiestan la eficacia del cati.n ODTMA para aumentar la adsorci.n de los pesticidas estudiados por los suelos seleccionados.
