The amounts of particulate organic matter transported in and out of a mangrove creek were studied over four neap tidal cycles - twice each during the month of September and October 1993. Water passing through the creek during each tidal cycle was collected at 15 minuted interval. A total of 100 water samples were collected and analysed for their POM content. Results show that the amount of suspended POM in the creek tidal waters are highly variable within and between tidal cycles and forms between 11.06 to 75.81 of the total suspended matter. During the September neap tidal cycles, there is a net export of POM from the mangrove reek but during the October neap tidal cycles there is a net import of POM into the mangrove creek indicating that the role of creeks is more than just as a conduit for tidal waters. At certain time it may act as a temporary storage of POM.
